Romberg Manor

Haus Romberg is a small knight's seat in the Davensberg district of Ascheberg in Münsterland.

One can see from the loopholes in the gatehouse and from the moats and ramparts that it is a former knight's castle. The manor house, built in Renaissance style, is located opposite the passage of the gatehouse. An octagonal tower with sandstone corner quoins adjoins the manor house.

The first known owners were the von Rodenberg family, from whom it passed to the von der Leithe family around 1400. Through the marriage of Bernd Wulff zu Füchteln to Margarethe von der Leithe in 1503, Romberg went to the Wulfs. Dietrich von Galen married Bernharda Wulf, the heiress of Romberg, in 1566, thus bringing the Romberg estate to his family. Thus, the von Galens were the longest owners of Haus Romberg. Today it is in private hands. The current owners have already carried out a number of renovation works.
