Rocholz Manor

Gut Rocholz is a moated aristocratic seat of the Berchem family in Gevelsberg. In addition to a manor house from the 17th century, there are also numerous farm and stable buildings on the premises. During the Nazi dictatorship, an inhumanely run forced labor camp for various Gevelsberg companies was located here. Gut Rocholz was poorly preserved and still in use until it was acquired by a real estate investor. The buildings were divided into several residential units. In addition, some new residential houses were also built. In November 2009, the new residents were surprised by masses of water in their apartments due to heavy rainfall. During the storm on June 20, 2013, water and sewage sludge entered twelve apartments.
