Kortenhorn Manor

The fief holder of the Kortenhorn estate was the Arnheim farm. In 1315, Kortenhorn was in the hands of Adolf von Brune, a vassal of Sweder von Ringenberg. In 1424, Jorden von Diepenbrock was enfeoffed with Haus Kortenhorn in addition to Diepenbrock Castle. Eventually, the Diepenbrock zu Kortenhorn line emerged. At the beginning of the 16th century, the heiress, Hillegunde Diepenbrock zu Kortenhorn, brought the house to her husband Lubbert von Rhemen zu Rhede. In 1655, Johann von Welfeld bought the property. Johann Anton von Graes zu Loburg acquired Haus Kortenhorn from Johann Zeger von Welfelde, in addition to Diepenbrock Castle. The von Graes family still owns the estate today, which is still used for agriculture. Of the old manor house, only the moats and foundations remain today.
