The Manor House of Bylandt+
The manor house, already mentioned in 1562, underwent extensive expansion and renovation work in the early 17th and mid-18th centuries. Bertram van Bylandt was among its owners.
Architectural Features+
The two-story, plastered brick building with a hipped roof and a three-story tower with a pointed helmet is characterized by its diverse architectural elements. The tower, which was raised in 1750, features a baroque portal with the coat of arms of the Bylandt and Quadt families.
The Interior
Inside, a spacious hall with a fireplace and a stucco ceiling from the 18th century is particularly noteworthy. The hall is adorned with numerous portraits of former owners.
The Chapel
The chapel, consecrated in 1661, houses a baroque altar and several epitaphs. It is still used for church services today.
The Park+
The manor house is surrounded by a spacious park, which was laid out in the 19th century as an English landscape garden. The park contains numerous old trees, ponds, and sculptures.
Current Use+
Today, the manor house is privately owned and is used for residential purposes. The park is open to the public at certain times.
