Averforth Castle

Haus Averforth (Aversforth) is located southeast of Rees in the district of Haffen and is an old noble seat. It is a former moated castle, situated in a depression. The house was first mentioned around 1409. The name probably comes from the location of the moated castle - house at the ford. Haus Averforth presents itself as a small two-story brick building from the 19th century. However, the core of the building is older and dates back to 1685. The former moats that surrounded the moated castle are still clearly visible today. The building is integrated into an agricultural business and is privately owned.
