Pichlhof Manor

The manor house was first mentioned in 1263 as being in the possession of the "Knights of Laaben". In 1616, a new building was erected.

In 1616, the manor house was rebuilt by the then owner, Baron von Laaben. The new building was designed in the Renaissance style and featured a large courtyard and several outbuildings.

The Baroque Period

In the 18th century, the manor house was renovated and redecorated in the Baroque style. The interior was adorned with elaborate stucco work and frescoes, and the gardens were redesigned with fountains and statues.

In the 19th century, the manor house changed hands several times. It was owned by various noble families, including the Counts of Schönborn and the Princes of Schwarzenberg. During this time, the manor house underwent further renovations and additions, including the construction of a new wing and a chapel.

The 20th Century

In the 20th century, the manor house was used for various purposes. During World War II, it served as a military hospital, and after the war, it was converted into a school. In the 1970s, the manor house was acquired by the state and underwent extensive restoration. Today, it is open to the public as a museum and cultural center.
