Sildemow Manor

On June 22, 1349, Duke Albrecht of Mecklenburg gifted the property and all freedoms of the place and estate of Sildemow to the Rostock councilor Heinrich Kruse. Subsequently, Sildemow belonged to various wealthy Rostock citizens, for example, in 1421 to Mayor Heinrich Bucken and in 1754 to a Captain Warnstaedt. Sildemow had the status of a "Rittergut" (manor) and belonged to the Lords von der Lühe in the previous century. In 1858, ownership transferred to Nicolaus Militz, who bequeathed the estate to his eldest son Christian Militz in 1872. He built the Sildemow Manor House in 1903. After his death in 1923, his daughter Emma, married to Emil Geitmann, took over the estate. The last estate owner until his forced expropriation and expulsion by the communists in 1945 was her son Hans-Christian.

After the war, refugees were housed in the manor house, and later apartments were set up. In the following years, it also served as a domicile for a kindergarten, a restaurant, a community office, an LPG (Agricultural Production Cooperative) kitchen, and the LPG office. During this time, the manor house was completely run down in its structure and substance. By the end of 1995, the conditions were so bad that living in the house was almost impossible. The partners of FPL Schiffsmakler GmbH from Rostock acquired the estate complex and, while preserving the historical basic structures, created a beautiful residential complex.
