From the Middle Ages to Modern Times+

Early History and Construction

The estate was originally a medieval knight's seat. The oldest parts of the current building date back to the 14th century. Over the centuries, the manor house was repeatedly expanded and remodeled, with each era leaving its architectural mark.

The von Saldern Family

In 1692, the estate came into the possession of the von Saldern family, who owned it for over 250 years. Under their ownership, the manor house experienced its heyday. Extensive renovations and additions transformed it into the stately residence we see today.

Architecture and Features

The manor house is a two-story brick building with a high hipped roof. Particularly striking are the richly decorated stepped gables, typical of the Brick Gothic style. Inside, historical stucco ceilings, wall paintings, and valuable parquet floors have been preserved.

Turbulent Times and New Beginnings+

The manor house was built around 1800. In 1802, the northwest wing was added. In 1945, the owners were forcibly dispossessed and expelled by the communists.

After German reunification, the manor house was extensively renovated and restored between 1992 and 1998. Today, it houses a hotel and a restaurant, and is also used for cultural events. It is a living monument to history and an important cultural center in the region.
