Repten was first mentioned in 1377 as Reppen. The village belonged to the Repten estate and was laid out as a cul-de-sac manor village. North of the village was a Slavic burgwall. The village was Sorbian-influenced. In 1818, a vintner's house, a brickworks, a sheep farm, and a watermill were mentioned.
The manor house was built in the mid-18th century and is one of the architectural monuments of the city of Vetschau. The estate complex consists of the manor house, the employee residence, the farmyard with stables and distillery, and the manor park. The steam engine of the former distillery is located in the district museum in Finsterwalde.
