Neu Gaarz Manor

Hotel

A manor house was built in 1698. In 1760, the present castle was erected on the walls of the manor house. After the estate changed hands several times, the manor house was rebuilt between 1934 and 1937 by the then owner Heinz Holtfretter. In 1945, the owners were forcibly dispossessed and expelled by the communists. Thereafter, the house served as accommodation for refugees. Later it was the seat of the municipal administration. In 1991, the cultural scientist Dr. Ull Eisel bought the manor house and had extensive renovation work carried out. Today it is a castle hotel, which houses a hunting and fishing school.
