Mühlenfeld Manor

The manor house was built in 1820 by the von Buchwaldt family.

It is a two-story plastered building with a hipped roof, which was extended by a single-story extension to the east in 1870. The main facade is characterized by a central risalit with a triangular gable and a portico supported by four columns. The interior of the house still largely corresponds to the original layout and impresses with its spacious rooms and high ceilings.

The von Buchwaldt family, an old Mecklenburg noble family, acquired the estate in the late 18th century. Under their ownership, the estate experienced a period of prosperity, which culminated in the construction of the manor house. For generations, the house served as the family's residence and administrative center of the estate.

In the course of the 20th century, the estate changed hands several times. After the Second World War, it was used for various purposes, including as a refugee accommodation and a school. In the 1990s, the manor house was extensively renovated and restored to its former glory.

The manor house is an outstanding example of North German Classicism. The clear lines, the symmetrical facade, and the restrained ornamentation are characteristic of this architectural style. The portico with its Doric columns gives the building a monumental and representative appearance.

Inside the house, numerous original details have been preserved, such as the stucco ceilings, the wooden paneling, and the historic tiled stoves. The grand staircase in the entrance hall is particularly impressive, leading to the upper floor.

The manor house is surrounded by a spacious park, which was laid out in the English landscape style in the 19th century. Old trees, winding paths, and a small pond invite you to stroll and relax. The park is home to a variety of plant species, including some rare specimens.

In recent years, the park has also been carefully restored and is now open to the public. It offers a wonderful setting for events and celebrations.

Today, the manor house is privately owned and is used as a residence. Parts of the house are also available for events, such as weddings, conferences, and cultural events. The historic ambience and the picturesque surroundings make the manor house a popular venue.
