To be privately owned

Maasleben was a bishop's fief, verifiable at least since 1463. At that time, it was referred to as Curia. It developed into one of the largest estates in Schwansen; in 1626, the villages of Boesby, Holzdorf, Hümark, Söby, and Thumby belonged to it. The main estate, now Gut Maasleben, has belonged to the family of the current owner since 1871.
