Leisten Manor

The manor house with its beautiful brick facade was built around 1870 on the vaults of a 13th-14th century predecessor building. A chestnut avenue planted in 1888 leads through the village to the manor house. Around 1900, the building was extended on the southeast side by a single-story annex and on the east side in the area of the staircase by a bay window.

The estate was owned by the Lords of Lehsten for over five centuries until 1803. Thereafter, ownership passed to the Lords of Penz, in 1817 to Wilhelm Beust, and in 1899 to Johannes Schlutius and, until expropriation and expulsion by the communists in 1945, to his heirs.

After 1945, the manor house housed a cinema and a doctor's office. In 1994, the manor house underwent extensive renovation in accordance with monument preservation standards. Today, it houses individual apartments, which are rented out.
