Groß Potrems Manor

In 1805, Friedrich von Gadow (Lord of Hugoldsdorf, Neuhof, Rönkendorf, Drechow, and Alt-Seehagen) purchased the estates of Groß Potrems and Wendorf. In 1945, the von Gadow family was forcibly dispossessed and expelled by the communists. During the GDR era, the manor house was used as a consumer cooperative and served as a kind of village center. In 1993, the Berlin hotelier Erwin Opel acquired the manor house, which was threatened with decay, had it restored by 1996, and subsequently used it as a hotel. When Opel passed away in 2007 at the age of 73, the Schlosshotel Nordland became the property of his 25-year-old Polish widow, was closed, and has been for sale ever since. The von Gadow family cemetery is still located in the park of the estate.
