Bristow Manor

The estate was owned by the Hahn family from 1352 to 1688 and from 1779 to 1845. They had the church and the mausoleum built in Bristow. Count Carl August Ludwig von Bassewitz-Lewetzow took over the estate in 1845 and significantly shaped Bristow's current appearance with his redesign. Among other things, in 1865 he had a magnificent farm building erected, which, after the actual manor house burned down in 1919, was used as a residence for the von Bassewitz-Lewetzow family. In 1868, the new granary followed, and in 1882, the stables. In 1945, the von Bassewitz-Lewetzow family was forcibly dispossessed and expelled by the communists. The estate was allocated to refugees and local farm workers. Since 1990, it has been owned by an agricultural cooperative GmbH.
