Bobbin Manor
Gutshaus Bobbin, a stately manor and estate house, is located in the Bobbin district of the Behren-Lübchin municipality in the Rostock district, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It stands as a remarkable example of the region's rural architecture and bears witness to a rich history.
History+
The history of the Bobbin estate is closely linked to the von Blücher family. Anton Friedrich von Blücher, born in 1775, took over the Bobbin estate in 1800, considering it the most fertile of his family's newly acquired properties. At that time, Bobbin was still a young tenant farm, after the farmers had been relocated from Bobbin to Quitzenow in 1763 – a process that was only officially approved in 1793. In the early 1800s, Anton Friedrich von Blücher had new houses built with oak half-timbering and thatched roofs, as the old tenant house was dilapidated and the accommodations for day laborers were insufficient. In 1808, he married Caroline von Schack, who supported him in managing the estate. Despite difficult times during the French occupation and the passage of the Russian-Polish army in 1814/15, the von Blücher couple began constructing a new, stately residence between 1822 and 1825, also establishing larger garden and courtyard facilities. After Anton Friedrich's death in 1844, Caroline von Blücher retained Bobbin as her widow's residence.
