Blumberg Manor

The knightly estate originally belonged to the von Randow family, then to the von Sydow family, from whom it passed as a male fief by inheritance in 1763 to the von der Osten family. In 1792, under Karl von der Osten, the manor house was built, with two cavalier houses as wings. The estate had two outworks – Carlsburg and Hammelstall, the latter with sheep farming corresponding to its name. Within the family, there was then a change of branch for the Blumberg estate; in 1898, Friedrich Wilhelm von der Osten became the owner, having previously also owned Penkun Castle. The last owner of the 2,500 ha Blumberg estate was Dr. Henning von der Osten, who was dispossessed and expelled by the communists in 1945. The estate became part of the land reform, but was later converted into a VEG – state-owned farm. The manor house, heavily damaged during the war, became a residence for refugees after the war, later a multi-purpose building for the community – cultural center, kindergarten, etc. The von der Osten family reacquired the Blumberg estate in 1996.
