Gut Unterfronrath: A Historic Manor with a Rich Past+

Gut Unterfronrath was first mentioned in 1397 and belonged to Heinrich von Gronsfeld. The complex was rebuilt in the 18th/19th century.

Architectural Features and Evolution+

The manor house is a two-story, plastered brick building with a hipped roof, dating from the 18th century. The main facade is characterized by a central risalit and a baroque portal. The interior features well-preserved stucco ceilings and wall paintings from the construction period.

The Courtyard and Outbuildings

The spacious courtyard is enclosed by various outbuildings, including stables, barns, and a coach house. These buildings, mostly from the 19th century, reflect the agricultural use of the estate over centuries. A particular highlight is the historic dovecote, which is still well preserved today.

Historical Significance and Ownership+

Over the centuries, Gut Unterfronrath has changed hands multiple times. After the von Gronsfeld family, it came into the possession of the von Waldbott-Bassenheim family in the 17th century, who carried out extensive renovations and expansions. In the 19th century, the estate was acquired by the von Loë family, who continued to manage it as an agricultural enterprise.

Gut Unterfronrath Today

Today, Gut Unterfronrath is privately owned and is used for residential purposes. Parts of the complex are also rented out for events. The historic buildings have been carefully restored and maintained, preserving the unique atmosphere of this historic manor.
