Moos Manor

Moos Manor

To be privately owned

The Freisitz Moos is located in the Traundorf district of the municipality of Gmunden in the Gmunden district of Upper Austria (Georgstraße 26).

Traundorf belonged to the Herrschaft Ort. Traundorf is first mentioned in a document in 1340. For decades, there were tensions between Traundorf and Gmunden, as the people of Traundorf disregarded the privileges of the city of Gmunden. These could only be resolved when Traundorf was incorporated into the Burgfrieden of Gmunden for the first time in 1603 and definitively in 1637. The Freisitz Moos was also originally not subject to urban jurisdiction and was exempt from all taxes.

The first mention of Moos occurred in 1607. In 1642, it belonged to Johann Wankhammer. In 1764, Maria Anna Artstätter is named as the owner. Moos has since seen many owners. In 1848, it was still registered in the land register.

The building today has a villa-like character; a corner tower is still preserved. The Freisitz Moos is privately owned and cannot be visited.
