History+

The origins of Katharinental Monastery date back to before 1471, when it was founded as a convent for Franciscan Tertiaries. For several centuries, the monastery shaped the spiritual and cultural life in its surroundings. In the course of secularization, the monastery was dissolved in 1802, ending its independent monastic existence.

Following the dissolution of the monastery in the early 19th century, the property was repurposed. Today, the former monastic buildings are privately owned and serve as a residence. The historical structures are partially preserved and bear witness to the site's former significance.
