Kloster Eggenfelden

The monastery was founded in 1649 by the citizens of Eggenfelden and the Bavarian Reform Province of the Franciscans. Originally dedicated to the Holy Cross, it later received the patronage of Saint Anthony of Padua. In the course of secularization, the monastery was dissolved in 1802. However, it experienced a revival: in 1832 it was re-established as a hospice and in 1841 it was again elevated to a convent. A special feature in its final years was the 'Monastery to Live With' program, which offered interested individuals the opportunity to participate in community life. Due to a shortage of personnel, the German Franciscan Province ultimately closed the monastery in Eggenfelden in 2013.

The monastery is situated in Eggenfelden, a town in the Rottal-Inn district of the state of Bavaria, Germany.

Since its closure in 2013, the former monastery buildings have been utilized by an institute for organizational consulting and personal development.
