The origins of the Franciscan convent in Markgröningen date back to before 1304, when the community was already established. For centuries, the Franciscan sisters shaped the spiritual and social life in the surrounding area. In the course of the Reformation, the convent was dissolved in 1540, bringing an end to an era of monastic presence in Markgröningen.
