Kloster Heilig Kreuz

The convent of Heilig Kreuz was founded in 1456 by six devout women: Anna Kautin, Barbara Baderin, Elisabetha Deschlerin, Afra Weylerin, Anna Fingerlin, and Anna Schneiderin. Since 1623, it has been dedicated to the Holy Cross. Unlike many other spiritual institutions in Bavaria, the convent was not dissolved during the secularization, although the admission of novices was temporarily prohibited in 1802. After centuries of existence, the convent was officially dissolved in 2018, with the remaining three Franciscan sisters relocating to Ursberg Abbey for health reasons. Since then, the convent building has been managed by the Stiftung zum Heiligen Kreuz, founded in 2010, and the spiritual life is continued by sisters of the Community of the Redeeming Love of Christ e.V.

The convent is located in Mindelheim, a town in the Unterallgäu district in the Bavarian Swabia region, Germany.

The historic convent building is a protected monument and is currently managed by the Stiftung zum Heiligen Kreuz. Its spiritual heritage is continued by the Community of the Redeeming Love of Christ e.V.
