The former Franciscan convent of Filzen, now known as Brauneberg, is a historical site in Rhineland-Palatinate. It represents a piece of monastic past in the Bernkastel-Wittlich region and bears witness to a long religious tradition.
History+
The origins of the Filzen monastery date back to 1455, when it was founded as a convent for Franciscan nuns. For centuries, the monastery shaped the spiritual and cultural life of the surrounding area. It was dedicated to Saint Joseph. Its existence came to an end in 1802 when it was dissolved during the secularization.
