Küstrin Fortress-Kietzer Tor
The Küstrin-Kietzer Tor Fortress is a significant relic of the once mighty Küstrin Fortress. Located in the Polish city of Kostrzyn, it bears witness to a long and eventful history of military architecture and defense.
History+
The origins of Küstrin Fortress date back to the second half of the 16th century, when it was built to protect the residential city of Küstrin. Its military use ended in 1920 after World War I, marking the beginning of the demolition of the eastern city ramparts. In 1945, towards the end of World War II, Küstrin was again declared a fortress. The subsequent fighting led to the almost complete destruction of the city by March 1945. After the war, the already damaged fortress structures were further decimated by explosions and demolition work for material recovery. Since the 1990s, parts of the fortress complex in the old town have been undergoing restoration.

The Küstrin-Kietzer Tor is located in Kostrzyn, in the Lubuskie (Lebus) district in the Północno-Zachodni region of Poland, at an elevation of approximately 17 m above sea level.
