The "Festung" School+
Today's "Festung" elementary school was built between 1848-50 as a defensive barracks according to plans by Domenico Venchiarutti. As early as 1856, it was converted into an orphanage and the rampart was leveled. The building is a four-sided complex with a courtyard and two corner towers. Remains of the rampart and moat were restored during revitalization.
