Dominican Monastery
The Dominican Monastery Landshut is a former monastery of the Dominicans in Landshut, Bavaria, in the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising.
The monastery, dedicated to St. Blasius, was founded in 1271 by Duke Heinrich XIII of Lower Bavaria; the monastery church was consecrated only in 1386. Between 1747 and 1749, the complex was rebuilt in the Rococo style, with frescoes created by Johann Baptist Zimmermann. In 1800, the monastery came into the possession of the University of Landshut, initially for the Georgianum seminary. From 1802, general university lectures took place here. In 1826, the Royal Court of Appeal of the Isar District was housed in the buildings. Since 1839, the former monastery has been the official seat of the Government of Lower Bavaria.
