Dominican Convent of St. Mary of Heavenly Crown (Corona Coeli), Hochheim

The convent was founded in 1278 by Knight Dirolf and his second wife Agnes. Approval from Bishop Friedrich I of Worms was granted in January of the same year. The couple provided the site of their moated castle in Hochheim for the project. The first prioress of the convent was Adelheid, the founder's sister. After the founder couple's only daughter joined the order, their entire assets, a sum of 12,000 pounds, flowed into the convent's property. Construction began in 1279 and was largely completed by 1282, though the convent's own church was finished later. The cornerstone for the church was laid in 1287, and the high altar was consecrated in 1293. The convent was officially admitted to the Dominican Order in 1287 and placed under the supervision of the Dominicans in Worms. At times, the influx of novices was so great that the number of nuns had to be limited to 52 in 1307. During the War of the Cities from 1387–1389, the convent suffered damage in 1388, with reconstruction spanning several decades. In 1429/30, a reform of the convent took place under the influence of Elector Ludwig III of the Palatinate, with Margarete Zorn from the Basler Steinenkloster becoming the new prioress. In 1525, the convent was plundered during the German Peasants' War and eventually ceased to exist during the Reformation.

The former Dominican convent of St. Maria Himmelskron is located in Hochheim, a district of Worms in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.

The former convent church now serves as the Roman Catholic church of the Hochheim district and continues to bear the name St. Maria Himmelskron.
