Cathedral of the Resurrection

Construction of the cathedral began in 1936 and was completed in 1938. It was built as a replacement for an earlier church building, the site of which had been claimed by the NSDAP. The inauguration took place on May 13, 1938. The Prussian Building and Finance Directorate, under the direction of Karl Schellberg, was responsible for the new construction. In 2011, the Russian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate acquired the property, which it had previously used under a hereditary building right. The cathedral's iconostasis was transferred from the previous building and originally came from a garrison church in Mińsk Mazowiecki near Warsaw.

The cathedral is situated in the Berlin district of Wilmersdorf, which belongs to the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf borough. It is located at Hohenzollerndamm 166 on Hoffmann-von-Fallersleben-Platz in the city of Berlin, Germany.

The structure presents itself as a three-aisled basilica in the Russian-Byzantine style. Characteristic features include the domed roof with a round lantern and a distinctive blue onion dome, complemented by four smaller onion turrets in the roof gables. The cathedral serves as a place of worship for the Berlin Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church and is protected as a historical monument.
