Château Echallens

The Castle of Echallens+
The castle of Echallens was built in the second half of the 13th century on a small hill. It was plundered and burned by the Confederates in 1475. After its reconstruction, it served as the residence for the bailiffs of Orbe-Echallens. Today, only a round tower of the medieval structure remains; the north wing was built in 1719. Since 1816, the castle has been owned by the municipality, which housed the municipal administration and a primary school within it.
