History+

The lands of Recoules were owned by various noble families over the centuries. In the Middle Ages, the area initially belonged to the de Prévinquières family. In the early 13th century, the lordship of Recoules passed to the de Garceval family through marriage. A long line of descendants, beginning with Aymeri I around 1250, continued the lineage until Marie Félicie de Garceval brought the estate into the de Lastic family through marriage. Later, in 1765, the Château changed hands to the de Lévezou de Vézins family through the marriage of Marie Claudine de Lastic. In 1853, Baron Marc-Antoine-François de Gaujal acquired the property, giving the structure its current appearance. Later, Mademoiselle Capelle, a granddaughter of Baron Capelle, purchased the castle.
