History+

The origins of Château de Colpach date back to 1303, when it was first mentioned as a small medieval fortress surrounded by a moat, similar to the structures in Ell and Everlange. From 1628, the castle was owned by the Lords of Pforzheim. In 1747, they had the moats filled in and converted the fortress into a château. In the 19th century, the estate belonged to Baron Edouard de Marches. Aline Mayrisch, the later owner, sold the château to the Red Cross in 1947, which subsequently used it as a convalescent home.
