Château de Clervaux
The Château de Clervaux, an imposing castle, stands prominently in northern Luxembourg. Its history dates back to the 12th century, bearing witness to a varied past that makes it a remarkable historical structure.
History+
The castle's origins lie in the 12th century, when Gerard Count of Sponheim, a brother of the Count of Vianden, initiated its construction. Around 1400, the Lords of Brandenbourg expanded the complex by adding the large palace and the characteristic rounded towers. In 1634, Claude of Lannoy further shaped its appearance by having the reception halls, including the grand knight's hall, designed in the Spanish style.
