Castello di Isola Farnese

The baronial palace, dating back to the Late Middle Ages, was built within the Farnese castle and owes its current form to Cardinal Alessandro Farnese. The 1567 project was elaborated by the architect Jacopo Barozzi da Vignola. It was owned by:

Paolo Giordano I Orsini, first Duke of Bracciano and his family since the 13th century; Alessandro Olgiati, Roman nobleman, from October 9, 1560, acquired for the price of 17,250 scudi as a nominee for Cardinal Farnese; Cardinal Alessandro Farnese, acquired on April 16, 1567, for the price of 16,500 scudi; Apostolic Camera, on December 19, 1649, Ranuccio II Farnese agreed to the incorporation of the Duchy of Castro and all assets and rights constituting the duchy were ceded to the Apostolic Camera for the sum of 1,629,750 scudi; Maria Anna of Savoy, Duchess of Chiablese and wife of Benedetto of Savoy, by act of 1806; Maria Cristina of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, Queen Consort of Sardinia and wife of Charles Felix of Savoy, inherited from 1824 following the death of Marianna of Savoy, her husband's sister; Teresa Cristina, Empress of Brazil, born Bourbon-Naples, inherited from her paternal aunt and godmother Maria Cristina of Savoy in 1949, according to the will drawn up in Rome in 1840; Ferraioli Family, by purchase a few years before 1892; Rodolfo Lanciani, cit., "the farms of Isola Farnese and Vaccareccia, where the remains of Veii and its extensive cemeteries are located, were sold a few years ago, by the Empress of Brazil to Marquis Ferraioli", Pagan and Christian Rome, U.S.A., 1892 Di Robilant Family, from March 31, 1961, by deed of Notary Misurale (rep:164283); property alienated by Carlo Alberto Gentiloni Silverj as attorney for his father Stefano Gentiloni Silverj to whom the property had come by inheritance from Natalia De Rossi, widow of Giovanni Battista Ferraioli, according to a holographic will dated June 27, 1939;
