Ruck Castle
Ruck Castle, also written Rugge Castle, is the ruin of a rock castle on the 524 m above sea level Bismarckfelsen near Blaubeuren in the Alb-Donau-Kreis in Baden-Württemberg.
The castle was built in the 11th century by Sigibot, the Count of Tübingen, and mentioned in 1563 during an expansion. In 1563, the castle was further expanded into a residential palace, fell into disrepair after the Thirty Years' War, and was demolished starting in 1751. Other owners included Palatine ministerial families and the Counts of Helfenstein. The castle was also the ancestral seat of the minnesinger Heinrich von Rugge, who died in 1200. Only minor wall remains of the castle are preserved.
