Rossel Castle
The Rossel near Rüdesheim am Rhein / Hesse is an excursion destination in the Niederwald Landscape Park with a magnificent view of the opposite confluence of the Nahe into the Rhine and the Binger Loch. Count Karl Maximilian von Ostein had the artificial ruin built in 1774 as part of the transformation of the Niederwald into a landscape park for his guests.
At its feet lie the Ehrenfels castle ruins and, on a small island in the Rhine, the Binger Mäuseturm.
The Rossel is about a 20-minute walk from the Niederwald Monument and a 10-minute walk from the Niederwald Hunting Lodge.
