Neuburg Castle
The Neuburg castle ruin, also known as the “Robber’s Castle,” is perched on the Ottersbühl in Neuhausen am Rheinfall in the canton of Schaffhausen. This hilltop castle, whose origins date back to the 10th or 11th century, is a lesser-known but fascinating testament to medieval architecture near the famous Rhine Falls.
History+
The exact construction period of the Neuburg is presumed to be in the 10th or 11th century. Written documents mentioning the castle are unknown. During excavations and conservation work in 1935, clear traces of fire were discovered, but their cause and impact on the castle's fate remain unclear.

The Neuburg ruin is located in Neuhausen am Rheinfall, in the canton of Schaffhausen, Switzerland, at an elevation of approximately 437 m above sea level. It lies about 300 meters southwest of Schlösschen Wörth.

Today, the massive foundation walls of the trapezoidal core castle, as well as two moats with an intervening rampart, are still visible from the Neuburg. The remains of the castle are accessible to visitors and can be explored.
