Neu-Tannegg Castle
Neu-Tannegg Castle, also known as Boll Castle, is the ruin of a hilltop castle at 695 m above sea level on a mountain ridge above the Wutach Gorge near Boll, a district of the city of Bonndorf, in the Waldshut district in Baden-Württemberg.
The Lords of Boll, who are mentioned as vassals of the Krenkingers around 1160, are considered to be the builders in the 12th century. It is not clear whether Boll Castle was a predecessor of Neu-Tannegg Castle. In the middle of the 14th century, the castle came into the possession of the Lords of Tannegg. After frequent changes of ownership, it fell into disrepair after 1476; no destruction is recorded. Nearby was Tannegg Castle, also known as Alt-Tannegg Castle.
The former castle complex still shows remains of curtain walls, a corner of the palace wall, and a moat towards the higher mountain slope.
