The Neu-Dettingen ruin, today also called "Kargegg", is the ruin of a lowland castle on the southwest shore of Lake Überlingen near Dettingen, a district of Constance in the district of Constance in Baden-Württemberg.
The castle was built by the Lords of Dettingen, which included the minnesinger Heinrich von Tettingen, towards the end of the 12th century and abandoned before 1350. Later, the castle was owned by the Mainau Commandery of the Teutonic Order. Of the former castle complex, which together with Neu-Dettingen forms a double castle, remains of the polygonal curtain wall and the ruin of the residential tower are still preserved.
Alt-Dettingen or Neu-Dettingen+
Previously, the ruin located on site was considered Alt-Dettingen. After an illegal excavation at the end of 2012, it turned out that this is Neu-Dettingen and Alt-Dettingen is therefore to be found elsewhere.
