Lichteneck Castle
The Lichteneck castle ruin is a castle ruin in Ingelfingen in the Hohenlohe district in Baden-Württemberg. Surrounded by vineyards, the ruin stands as a landmark of the city on a mountain spur above the old town of Ingelfingen in the Kocher valley.
The ruin of the hilltop castle is the preserved remnant of the castle built around 1250 by Kraft von Boxberg. It was possibly destroyed in 1394 by Count Eberhard von Württemberg during his campaign against the Schlegler or in 1436 in the Wertheim Feud. About half of the outer walls are still preserved, and the moat still exists on the mountain side.
After several storm damages, the masonry of the ruin was extensively secured in the 1970s.
