Hausegg Castle

Whether this castle was always called "Haus" or once had another name, now forgotten, can no longer be determined. The Hausegg is nowhere mentioned in documents. Its temporal origin can therefore only be attempted through the building itself. The mortarless masonry suggests an origin in the 12th century. The castle was probably built as an observation post on the then northern border of the Babenberg territory.
When the castle lost its function as an observation and security post, it was probably abandoned again and left to decay.
