Grimmstein Castle
The ruin of the hilltop castle Grimmstein is located on the 345.1 m above sea level high ridge Reinhardtsgrimmaer Heide south of the district Reinhardtsgrimma of the city Glashütte (Buschhäuser) in the district Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge in Saxony.
According to legend, the fortress of the Knights of Grimme stood on the Grimmstein. Today, the remains of the foundation walls of a small castle are recognizable. The destruction of the castle may be related to the downfall of the Burgraviate of Dohna in 1402. In the 1960s, archaeological excavations and a partial uncovering of the foundation walls took place.
For the 800th anniversary of Reinhardtsgrimma in 2006, an information board was installed on the Grimmstein.
