Foundation and Early Years
The exact date of the castle's construction is unknown. Forchtenberg Castle belonged to the possessions of the Counts of Peggau-Pfannberg and was occupied by vassals engaged in agriculture. The defensive structure was replaced by a stone castle in the 11th century. When exactly Forchtenberg was abandoned is not known. Today, only remnants of the spur castle remain.
