History+
The origins of Eišiškės Castle date back to the 13th century. In the 14th century, the complex was owned by the Grand Duke of Lithuania Vytautas the Great and his wife Anna of Lithuania. A fire in 1434, caused by military conflicts, destroyed the castle, but it was subsequently rebuilt.
