Ebersberg Castle
The Ebersberg ruin is the ruin of a hilltop castle at 582.9 m above sea level on the Ebersberg terminal moraine cone with Mahlweiher, about three kilometers north of the Baden-Württemberg municipality of Neukirch in the Bodenseekreis in Baden-Württemberg.
The castle was built by the Lords of Ebersberg and mentioned in 1153. Around 1430, the castle was owned by Weißenau Abbey and fell into disrepair around 1468. Of the former castle complex, foundation walls and enclosing walls are still preserved.
The terminal moraine cone, which rises about 45 meters high from the landscape and on which the castle was once built, is now part of the five-hectare "Ebersberg Terminal Moraine Cone with Mahlweiher" landscape protection area, designated in 1954. Below the cone, the "Ebersberger Weiher" nature reserve adjoins.
