Bundenbach Castle

Bundenbach Castle is the ruin of a spur castle west of the village of Großbundenbach in the Verbandsgemeinde Zweibrücken-Land in the Südwestpfalz district, Rhineland-Palatinate. The castle is located in the area known as "Am Welgesgrund".
The castle was presumably built around 1200 by the Counts of Saarwerden. Other owners mentioned include the Counts of Veldenz, Boos von Waldeck, the von Stein family, and the Dukes of Zweibrücken. The castle was destroyed during the Thirty Years' War and demolished in 1813.
A castle chapel was mentioned in 1389.
The complex was divided into an Upper Castle and a Lower Castle. The Lower Castle surrounded the Upper Castle to the north, west, and south. Remains of the shield wall are still present. Furthermore, the stump of a ten-meter-high residential tower still exists in the center of the Upper Castle.
