Bebenburg Castle
The ruin of Bebenburg, also called Bemburg, is the ruin of a spur castle on the foothills of a high plateau near the hamlet of Bemberg, part of the district of Brettenfeld in the municipality of Rot am See in the district of Schwäbisch Hall in Baden-Württemberg. Bebenburg stands on a 426.6 m above sea level high mountain spur above the confluence of the Blaubach into the Brettach, on the western edge of Bemberg.
The castle was built around 1140 by the Knights of Bebenburg and mentioned around 1140. The castle was probably destroyed around 1449 in the Cities' War. Owners of the castle were noble free lords of Bebenburg and burgraves, from 1440 the noble family of Enslingen.

The small castle complex was probably a tower castle, whose keep, still 6 meters high today, with a base area of 7.5 x 7.5 meters, served as a watchtower. The castle was protected by a surrounding wall, the steeply sloping terrain, and a neck ditch.
