Fürstenstein Castle
Fürstenstein Castle is a ruined spur castle on a mountain spur at 265 m above sea level above Zwingenberg Castle near the municipality of Zwingenberg in the Neckar-Odenwald district (Baden-Württemberg).
The castle was built around 1340 (mention) by the Archbishop of Mainz, presumably as a provocative counter-castle close to the lower Zwingenberg Castle. The reason was the right of access to Zwingenberg Castle, which was enforced in 1338 by the Count of Württemberg, Count Palatine Ruprecht I and Archbishop Heinrich von Virneburg of Mainz. The castle had to be razed as early as 1343. It was demolished by royal decree.

The former castle complex, which extends over several narrow plateaus for more than 100 meters, shows only minor wall remains made of small and medium-sized quarry stones. The findings indicate a walled core castle with outbuildings and a neck ditch.
