Burggrafenturm Castle
The Burggrafenturm is a building in the former episcopal city in Augsburg. The episcopal city emerged from the ruins of the Roman settlement and consisted of a castle-like complex with a manorial court, cathedral, and episcopal palace. The Burggraf, as the highest official of the castle city, resided in the Burggrafenturm, which was rebuilt in 1507. He exercised commercial jurisdiction.
The appearance of the three-story gabled house is significantly determined by the octagonal bay windows. On the ground floor there is a vaulted passage. A memorial for missing soldiers was established there after the Second World War. Today, the Burggrafenturm is used by the Augsburg section of the German Alpine Club.
