Rheindorf Castle
Rheindorfer Burg is a castle building on the northern edge of the Bornheim district of Walberberg (Rheindorfer-Burg-Weg) in the Rhein-Sieg-Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The castle was first mentioned in a document in 1140 as the seat of the Lords of Rinchedorp. A Christian von Richedorp was a vassal of Count and later Cathedral Provost Adolf von Saffenberg.
The castle frequently changed owners until 1638, after being in the possession of the Lords of Quad for 250 years, when the Jesuits bought the free noble knight's seat.
In 1924, the Dominican Order bought the castle complex and founded the Dominican Monastery of St. Albert there in 1925, which was the seat of the Philosophical-Theological University of the Dominicans in Germany until 1975. The monastery was abandoned in 2007.
In 2008, Summit Healthcare Management Partners GmbH, based in Cologne, acquired the listed buildings and founded "Domäne Walberberg," a hotel, restaurant, wellness center, conference facilities, and assisted living with care.
Since August 31, 2008, the "Förderkreis Historisches Walberberg e.V." has maintained the Rheindorfer Burg Museum Room in the castle.

The oldest part of the castle complex is the tower from the 11th to 12th century, which shows a striking resemblance to the Hexenturm (Witch's Tower). From 1925 to 1926, the castle was completely gutted and adapted to new requirements within the preserved outer walls, especially for the significant library with 156,000 books.
